Refunds and cancellation

Last updated 20 October 2026

Thirty days, any payment, no questions asked. If you want your money back within 30 days of a charge, write to us and we will refund it. You do not have to give a reason, and we will not ask for one.

What that covers

  • A first payment on any plan, monthly or annual.
  • Every renewal. The 30 days run from each charge, not only from the first one — so a renewal you did not want is a renewal you get back.
  • A perpetual license, and an on-premise subscription.

There is one limit, and it is the only one: if somebody buys and refunds the same plan again and again, we may decline to sell it to them a further time. That is the whole of the fine print.

How to ask

Write to contact@znipp.ch from the address you bought with, or reply to the receipt Paddle sent you. Give us the order number from that receipt if you have it to hand; if you do not, the email address is enough to find the payment.

We pass a refund to Paddle on the working day we read your message. Paddle returns the money by the way you paid, which usually takes a few working days and is the bank's pace rather than ours. You can also ask Paddle directly — Paddle is the seller of record for the transaction, and either route reaches the same place.

If something has gone wrong, ask us before you ask your bank. A chargeback takes weeks, costs us a fee, and we would have refunded you on the day.

Your statutory rights are not touched

If you are a consumer in the EU or the EEA, you have a right of withdrawal of 14 days from the day of the contract, with no reason needed. Paddle's checkout may ask you to confirm that the service is to start at once; whether or not that affects the statutory right, our own 30-day promise applies either way, because it is longer and it asks for nothing.

Consumers in Switzerland have no statutory right of withdrawal for a digital service. The 30-day promise applies to them exactly as it does to everybody else.

To use the statutory right rather than our promise, a sentence is enough: I withdraw from the contract I concluded on <date>. Send it to contact@znipp.ch, and tell us where you would like our acknowledgement sent if it is not the address you wrote from. We confirm a withdrawal in writing, without undue delay, so that you have our acknowledgement of it and not only your own copy of the message.

Canceling instead

You can cancel a subscription at any time, and it then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Canceling is not a refund: if you want the last payment back as well, say so, and if it was within 30 days you get it back.

Nothing is canceled behind your back, and nothing renews at a price you were not told about (terms, section 9).

What a refund does to your notes

Nothing on your own devices. Your notes are Markdown and SVG files in your own folder, and they stay there, readable, with or without a license.

What ends is the part you were paying for: the server stops accepting changes from your devices, and the copy it holds is kept readable for 90 days and then deleted. The dates are in the app, under Vault properties, before and after. Pairing a second device, inviting somebody and sharing a link are the things that need the server, so those stop; writing, searching, dictating and opening every version you have ever written do not.

If you are an organization

The same 30 days apply to the first invoice and to every renewal. An on-premise perpetual license is refundable for 30 days from purchase; after that it is yours permanently, which is the point of it, and it keeps working whether or not you renew anything.
